Chinese crested dogs can have different temperaments, just like dogs of any other race. Some of them are friendly and they trust you, some don’t like strangers at all, some completely ignore everything that goes on outside their home and some of them want to take part in everything that happens around them… But there are some characteristics almost all of them have…

The Chinese crested dogs are vivacious, always ready to play, agile and surprisingly fast. They are gifted for learning tricks, and they are often called “the dogs on two feet” thanks to their ability to stand up and walk on their rear legs for a long time.

They love running, jumping, climbing and digging holes and, if socialized on time, they get along great with other pets.

Their hearing is very fine and when they are young (when they are pups) they are too sensitive and they are to be exposed to some kind of noise (moderate, of course!) so they wouldn’t get easily scared when they grow up. If not spoilt by their owner, they grow up to be very well-adjusted dogs.

When they are in the house, they behave themselves as faithful guardians. They don’t bark that much, but they will gruffly announce the arrival of every stranger to your door.

They always want to follow you around and please you. They are especially fond of hugging and laughing, so they will be very happy if you give them that kind of attention often. They simply love children and enjoy playing with them; however, children should be taught not to be rough with these dogs, because they don’t have hair to protect them – their skin is soft and easily hurt if we don’t pay attention.

They are intelligent and they truly adore being around people, which makes them great companions to spend your free time with. They get attached to their owner very easily and therefore they have difficulties adjusting to another.

But, once you have this dog, you will never want to give it to anyone, that is absolutely sure!
